Die Aufgabe besteht in der Ausarbeitung eines EU-Antrags zum Thema der Migrationen, Vertreibungen und Minderheiten im Europa des 20. Jahrhunderts

Voraussetzungen zum Zeitpunkt der Einstellung:
- Promotion in Soziologie, Geschichts- oder Kulturwissenschafte n
- Erfahrung mit EU-Anträgen
- Erfahrung mit Computerprogrammen für die Vorbereitung der EU-Anträge
- gute rechnerische Kenntnisse
- perfekte Englischkenntnisse
- Kenntnisse in einer ost-, ostmittel- oder südosteuropäischen Sprache

Die Stelle ist zunächst auf 9 Monate befristet. Im Fall der positiven Entscheidung seitens der EU auf den gestellten Antrag ist eine Verlängerung um weitere 2 Jahre möglich.

TENURE-TRACK POSITION IN SLAVIC LINGUISTICS:

The Department of Slavic Languages and Literatures of the University of Chicago seeks to fill an entry-level, tenure-track position in Slavic linguistics, with a special interest in diachronic linguistics. The ideal candidate will also have expertise in other historically and/or areally relevant languages or language families. We seek a candidate who will complement and build on our strengths in Slavic and areal linguistics and contribute to the intellectual life of the University in general. Teaching experience and evidence of publications are required. Candidates should have the Ph.D. in hand at the time of appointment, preferably at the time of application. Assistant / Associate Professor - Archaeology - Skidmore College, USA

The professor is expected to perform research and teaching in inorganic chemistry and suitably complement the research interests of the Institute of Inorganic Chemistry. Applicants should be recognised for exceptional achievements in a modern area of inorganic chemistry. Participation in existing and planned research collaborations of the faculty in the fields of "molecular catalysis" and "organometallic chemistry" would be desirable. Die Tätigkeit beinhaltet die Durchführung eigener wissenschaftliche Forschung mit dem Ziel der Promotion auf dem Gebiet computergestützter Strukturanalysen sowie die Durchführung von Seminaren bzw. Übungen und die Betreuung von Studien- bzw. Diplomarbeiten. Der Rahmen möglicher Forschungsthemen beinhaltet u.a. Finite Elemente Methoden für statische und dynamische Versagens- bzw. Lebensdaueranalysen von Tragwerken, numerische Modelle für Mehrfeld- und Mehrskalenprobleme in der Strukturund Biomechanik sowie Methoden zur Parameteridentifikation. This is a tenure-line position. It is desired that the selected candidate be able to start on April 2009. Die/der zukünftige Stelleninhaber/in soll das Fachgebiet Ingenieurinformatik (Advanced Engineering Informatics) in Forschung und Lehre vertreten. In der Forschung sollen Schwerpunkte insbesondere auf der Entwicklung von Software-Hardware-Systemen liegen, die unterschiedliche Mehrebenenprobleme in Raum und Zeit unter Verwendung verschiedener Lösungsparadigmen der Informatik, der Numerik und der Fachdisziplinen der Bau- und Umweltingenieurwissenschaften zu lösen imstande sind. Unabdingbar sind vertiefte Kenntnisse zur objektorientierten Produktmodellierung, um Interoperabilität in großen Forschungsprojekten sicherzustellen. Die Mitwirkung an interdisziplinären Forschungsprojekten der Universität sowie die Übernahme der Federführung für informatische und IT-bezogene Aufgabenbereiche wird erwartet. Postdoc / Assistant Professor - Power Plant and Power System Control and Operation - Aalborg University, Denmark

Job description:

The position is available from 01.10.2008-30.04.2010.

Research areas will be within Power System Control. The impact of substantial amounts of wind power on utility control area operations planning and scheduling, determining ancillary services requirements (regulation, load following, reserves) for wind plants, quantifying the value of next-hour and next-day wind forecasting from a control area operations perspective should be assessed. In particular the specific mix of wind and hydro/gas/coal for representative transmission system configurations should be described.

The interaction of wind power plant (WPP) and power system is very important for wind power integration and the purpose of this program is first to survey and characterize the power system networks normal operation and ability to integrate wind power in different worldwide test cases and to evaluate different power system simulation tools. Then generic conventional power plants and WPP simulation models will be developed and finally real-time simulation will be considered. Control strategy in normal operation, stability issue and protection constraints will be considered as key parameters.

Key topics: state-of-the-art in power system modeling and simulation, benchmarking different off-line and real-time simulation tools, system planning, stability and protection. Some teaching activity will be required.

Requirements: Applicants for the PostDoc positions should posses a PhD degree in Electrical Engineering and should have a sound background in power systems simulation and control.

Limited teaching within the area can be expected, but also in other study programmes at the University.

Canada Research Chair (Tier II) - College of Engineering, University of Saskatchewan

The College of Engineering at the University of Saskatchewan has an exciting opportunity for a Tier II Canada Research Chair. Applications or nomination are currently being accepted for individuals who are fully qualified for a CRC Tier II position (qualifications available on the CRC Program Website: http://www.chairs.gc.ca) and who possess the ability to provide vision and leadership in one or more of the following areas: biofuels & bioprocesses, energy & environment (including nuclear engineering), advanced materials (including bio-materials), micro/nano devices, transportation & road sciences, and biomedical engineering.

Candidates who have obtained a Ph.D. within the last 10 years and who have an excellent research track record linking two or more of these areas will be given priority.

Applicants should be eligible for registration as a professional engineer. Subject to the successful nomination of the Tier II Canada Research Chair, the selected candidate will be appointed to a tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor and will be expected to lead an intense and internationally competitive research program, supervise undergraduate and graduate students, and participate in graduate and undergraduate level teaching.

It is also expected that the candidate will take advantage of the extraordinary opportunities that exist for multi-disciplinary interactions and groundbreaking collaborative research partnerships with colleagues from all over the world working at the Canadian Light Source (CLS) synchrotron facility. Located on the University of Saskatchewan campus, the CLS is the most ambitious science project in Canada in a generation. This new research tool and myriad collaborative prospects are unique in North America. The Canada Research Chair is expected to use the synchrotron facility and should have related experience in this area.
